A Bad Batch of Beer and a Brilliant Idea

Beer doesn’t stay fresh for long. It’s not that it goes bad, per say, but it loses carbonation and flavor. That’s when restaurants and breweries get rid of it. In a typical situation, this would mean hauling it offsite or processing it so it can be dumped into the sewage system. Until now…

The folks at ReBru like to say that their place is where craft beer dies and goes to heaven. They take expired beer and turn it into spirits. Not just whiskey, but absinthe, vodka and gin as well. On top of that, they have created an impressively circular system at their facility (dubbed The Acre of Awesome), where they strive to repurpose or recycle everything they use. Watch the video below to see for yourself!

This project was fulfilling in so many ways - showcasing an awesome group of people who allowed a happy accident become a value driven business that is an inspiring example of sustainability. If you put your mind to it, you can do it. And do it right.
